Both rustic and beautiful

Tea and Forget-me-nots

The most important step is to sand and clean the crate. This gets rid of any dirt or rough edges brought in from the outside.

Original wood crate

Clean

1

Sand with 180 grit sandpaper and an orbital electric sander to take off the rough surface.

Sand

2

Paint the back of the crate white. As decoupage paper will only be as vibrant as the background.

Paint

3

Used poppy napkins for the decoupage paper for this crate bookshelf. Tore the napkins into a rough layout to cover the back of the crate.

Apply Decoupage Paper

4

Turned the crate upside down. Used screws to secure the legs. Shorter legs would give a more boho look.

A great project for quirky room decor.  You can easily match it to the style of your room depending on how you finish it.
